Enable SharePoint Developer Dashboard with PowerShell

Developer Dashboard is a new feature SharePoint 2010. It provides developers with tracking and tracing information. But it is disabled by default. If you want display it, you can enable it with PowerShell easily.

There are 3 modes:

  • Off: Disabled, this is the default value
  • On: Enables the Developer Dashboard
  • OnDemand: Enables the Developer Dashboard upon request by clicking the icon in the upper right cornerdeveloper dashboard icon

“OnDemand” mode

$devdash = [Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWebService]::ContentService.DeveloperDashboardSettings;
$devdash.DisplayLevel = “OnDemand”;
$devdash.TraceEnabled = $true;
$devdash.Update()

“On” mode

$devdash = Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWebService]::ContentService.DeveloperDashboardSettings;
$devdash.DisplayLevel = “On”;
$devdash.TraceEnabled = $true;
$devdash.Update()

“Off” mode (Disabled)

$devdash = Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWebService]::ContentService.DeveloperDashboardSettings;
$devdash.DisplayLevel = “Off”;
$devdash.TraceEnabled = $true;
$devdash.Update()
